Location : Pua , Nan
Area : 17,873 Sqm.
As time passes, the use of architecture inevitably evolves. This former tobacco curing barn is no exception. Due to various factors, the tobacco industry has been steadily declining, and the Ban Lao Tobacco Curing Station has also felt the impact. Today, the project has been adapted into "Robom Pua Cafe and Eatery" to welcome visitors. However, after analyzing the site, it was found that there is still a significant amount of space within the project that holds great potential for further development and activation — both for tourists and for the local community. This realization gave rise to THE ADDICTION project, which seeks to renovate and revitalize this historic landmark, preserving its rich heritage while breathing new life into it to meet the needs of contemporary use.
The project is thoughtfully divided into public and private spaces to accommodate both short-term and long-term visitors. The public areas include a restaurant, café, bar, and an agricultural garden, all of which are designed to invite guests to explore, participate, and engage with the local culture. Each space seamlessly weaves in narratives and elements that reflect the site's storied past as a former tobacco curing facility.
The private area, meanwhile, consists of a boutique resort where the accommodations are housed within the renovated historic brick curing barns. Although the original structures posed challenges in terms of space and structural constraints, these very aspects have become distinctive highlights of the project. Guests are offered not only a place to relax but also an opportunity to experience the echoes of a once-thriving industry and immerse themselves in the authentic beauty of the site's grand, historic architecture. Undoubtedly, every visitor will leave with a sense of wonder and a truly unique experience.
