The Ocean, the origin of all the creatures of the earth. This never-ending blue mysterious mass of water has only been explored by 1% by humankind. The unknown part remains a mystery. However, what we’ve learned from the ocean so far makes us understand the basics and the origins of life. The thirst for knowledge is a crucial part of the human experience that allows us to develop an understanding about science all around the world, including Thailand.

Thailand has been exploring the science of studying sealifes for a long time. Consequently, these ambitions to study these sealifes have led to the establishment of Rayong Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center. The research center will be a prominent source for the public to participate in the process of learning about these sealifes of the ocean where the origin of life has begun. Not only does this research center offer knowledge of the ocean but also has some fun activities that participants can enjoy while spending their time in the center. Rayong Aquarium research center will provide information and understanding of the ocean in an entertaining way, alongside being a tourist attraction.

Rayong Aquarium is a part of the Rayong Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center, which is responsible for fisheries and sealifes studies in the east coast of Thailand. As a result, the Rayong Aquarium combines the purpose of both the research center and the aquarium. The aquarium will provide visitors with knowledges and experiences about sea creatures through variations of entertaining activities in each distinct zone

In terms of design, the space on the rooftop on the second floor was expanded to accommodate more functional areas to the building. In addition, the columns and beams on the second floor were extended to house new additional building systems, for instance, water tanks were added to serve the exhibition area. In order to reflect the direction of the research center, the materials and designs used in the project are modest and modern. Simple yet elegant.
